Sandlot creates first choice, top-of-mind Health Information Exchange (HIE) systems and service solutions essential to the foundation of Accountable Care Organizations that benefit patients, providers, and their communities.
Sandlot was founded in 2006 by a group of practicing physicians to create the health information exchange (HIE) that everyone had been promising for years.
As medical professionals we realized all that was missing from existing HIE solutions. They forced doctors to change how they work. They limited choices. They provided health information that was system-based not patient-based.
We knew there had to be a simpler, far superior way to bring technology to medicine. Our Sandlot Solutions include all the connection, interface technology and experienced consultation that are essential to building a true information exchange and achieving all the benefits they promise. We believe electronic health records should follow patients in real time so providers can make fast, safe decisions, reduce costs by eliminating redundant care and improve the quality of care overall.

Health Information Exchange (HIE) among physician points of care, hospitals, health plans, and patients has substantially increased as the federal mandate for converting and sharing electronic medical information has gained momentum. Interoperable information exchange has enabled a reduction in the cost of care delivery and has improved physician efficiency. Much of the evidence for this transformation in both quality and cost efficiency lies in the powerful clinical vignettesthat abound. A recent survey by the eHealth Initiative included the following findings:
Health information exchange has had a positive impact on physician practices, allowing them to become more efficient without disrupting care.Operational initiatives report the following impacts for practices that utilize the exchange:
This survey also supports the HIE initiative happening today in North Texas. SandlotConnect® is a physician-driven, interoperable HIE that went live in December 2008 with the following objectives:
The experience of our physicians using SandlotConnect would strongly support the eHI survey findings of significant cost savings. |
